Hat Leagues

UC summer leagues ("CUSL") are made up of several large divions

CUSL-Recreational

This is the largest CUSL division. Playing on Monday and Wednesday nights, teams in CUSL-Rec are set up so that a 4/3 gender ratio can be maintained on the field to make this a truly co-ed division. Open to any player of any skill level, spirit is what is emphasized here. CUSL-Rec is divided into North and South subdivisions so players get to play as close to home or work as possible.

The number of men in CUSL-Rec will be capped based upon the number of women that register.  Also , whether a man gets into CUSL-Rec is solely determined by order of registration. Having women in your buddy group does not guarantee entry into CUSL-Rec!! MALE ENTRY TO CUSL-REC IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

Teams are randomly assigned, however, you can register with up to THREE BUDDIES, based on rules determined by the League commissioners each year.

CUSL-Competitive

This division is there for the more skilled players that want to have a higher level of competition. Playing on Wednesday nights, this division is also co-ed with teams playing 4/3 if attendance allows, or 5/2 at the discretion of captains.

CUSL-Competitive will maintain a 4/3 gender ratio on the field and in registration. This league is a core-draft league. The core is comprised of 8 people with at least 4 women.  If you are signing up to be drafted to a team, you have the option of registering with ONE BUDDY who will be drafted to the same team as you.

CUSL Competative teams are typically formed via a live draft.

CUSL-Open

For players that want to play at a more recreational level, but without the strict gender restrictions of CUSL-Rec. Since the number of men in CUSL-Rec is capped to maintain the 4/3 ratio, CUSL- Open provides a division for the surplus of men to still have the opportunity to play over the summer.

CUSL-Open, obviously, has no gender restrictions and allows you to register with 3 buddies, just like CUSL-Rec.  The rest of the rosters are generated by the commissioners.

CUSL-Thursday

Playing on Thursday nights, the CUSL-Thursday division is co-ed and caters to players that are new to ultimate. Veteran players committed to teaching basic ultimate skills and strategy captain the teams, and beginning players get the bulk of the time actually on the field. Each participant in CUSL-Thursday also gets a free CUSL frisbee to use in furthering their ultimate career.

As with last year, CUSL-Thursday will enforce a strict 4/3 gender ratio both on the field and in registration. Teams will be randomly assigned, but you have the option of registering with ONE BUDDY who will be assigned to the same team as you.

CUSL-West

For players that live out in the suburbs and for whom coming into the city is too big a burden, we offer the CUSL-West league.

Playing in Carol Stream, it is readily accessible from most of the suburbs. This is also a co-ed division with a level of play similar to CUSL-Rec.

CUSL-West will try to maintain a 4/3 gender ratio on the field. Teams will be randomly assigned, but you have the option of registering with ONE BUDDY who will be assigned to the same team as you. CUSL-West will be played at the same fields in Carol Stream that were used last year.
