Winter League 2012 Registration open!!!
Indoor Winter League is back for a Fifth year!
Played on indoor walled soccer fields at a sweet facility on the south side, indoor ultimate is the same basic game with just a few slight rules variations.
Winter League is recommended for intermediate and experienced players. Due to the environment (no excess sideline space) and the pace of the league, it is difficult to give quality instruction to true beginners. Having said that, if you are new to the game and still really interested in playing, let-a-rip! And also feel free to email winter@ultimatechicago.org with questions.
Each person can sign up with one buddy. Only properly formed buddy pairs will be allowed (no chains or one-way buddies). Buddies must all sign up before the deadlines in order to be guaranteed a spot on the same team. Spots are limited so sign up ASAP!
League Fees will be $120 per person--this is for an 8 week season. Please note, there will be no refunds regardless of reason after the first week of play. This includes injuries.
Games will take place on Monday nights from 6 pm to 11 pm-- on a given Monday, each team plays one 90 minute round split into three 25 minute sets: start times will be 6:30, 8:00, or 9:30.
Timing is very tight for the rounds, so things have to start on time. No Ultimate time!
A few more notes on the rules for Indoor Ultimate:
- You play strictly timed games as opposed to playing to a point total consisting of three 25 minute "sets." Sets are over when the buzzer sounds (or once discs already in the air, before the buzzer goes off, are caught)--the final point does not necessarily end with a goal, and a set can end in a tie. A team receives two points for a won set, one point for a tie, and no points for a loss.
- A smaller field and fewer players (5 on 5).
-- No cleats are allowed on this surface. You can use turf cleats or tennis shoes.
- A stall count to 7 to keep things moving.
- Walls are in bounds so you can ricochet throws off of them. The ceiling netting is out of bounds.
- Scores are caught in the goalie box (not the actual net, but the lined box in front of the goal) which means you can score from three sides of the endzone!
